Belaruskali starts sinking cage shaft at Darasinsky mine

MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian potassium mining company Belaruskali has started sinking a cage shaft of the Darasinsky mine, BelTA learned from the company's Telegram channel.

According to the source, the construction of the cage shaft of the Darasinsky mine began on 11 December. It is one of the most important steps in building a new mine. The cage shaft is used to move people and equipment into the mine. The development of the underground infrastructure of the mine is about to begin.

Resources of the Darasinsky mine will extend the operational life of the company's third mine administration by at least 50 years. The designed output capacity of the mine will be close to 8 million tonnes of ore per annum. It will be increased to 9 million tonnes later on.

There are plans to drill two shafts at the construction site of the Darasinsky mine. An administrative wing with amenities will be built at the site as well as a fragmenting shop, a warehouse able to store up to 50,000 tonnes of ore, and other facilities. The mine will be able to produce about 8 million tonnes of ore per annum.

The commissioning of the new enterprise will allow creating 840 jobs.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) Belaruskali is one of the world's largest producers and exporters of potash fertilizers. The company comprises four mine administrations, auxiliary divisions, and support divisions.
