Belaruskali starts main stage of cage shaft sinking at Darasinsky mine

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian potash manufacturer OAO Belaruskali has begun the main stage of the operation meant to sink a cage shaft at the Darasinsky mine, BelTA learned from the company's Telegram channel.

Contractors started drilling the shaft and lining it with concrete masonry in line with the approved schedule. Before starting the main drilling process workers of OAO Trest Shahtospecstroy completed a number of preparations: they installed the sinking platform of a 2KS-2U40 sinking machine and increased the metallic sectional encasing with the diameter of nine meters to the height of 4.5 meters.

Now Trest Shahtospecstroy will work round-the-clock to sink the cage shaft and line it with concrete masonry from 40 meters to 187.1 meters below the surface.

BelTA reported earlier that the construction of a cage shaft of the Darasinsky mine is one of the most important steps in building a new mine. The cage shaft is used to move people and equipment into the mine.

Resources of the Darasinsky mine will extend the operational life of the company's third mine administration by at least 50 years. The designed output capacity of the mine will be close to 8 million tonnes of ore per annum. It will be increased to 9 million tonnes later on.

The commissioning of the new enterprise will allow creating 840 jobs.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) Belaruskali is one of the world's largest producers and exporters of potash fertilizers. The company comprises four mine administrations, auxiliary divisions, and support divisions.
