Belarusian vice premier comments on project to build Belarusian sea port in Russia

MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak commented on the project to build a Belarusian sea port in Russia as he talked to the media after a joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic, BelTA has learned.

When asked about the construction of the Belarusian port in Russia, Anatoly Sivak said: "This is a commercial project involving commercial organizations. Our job is to create favorable conditions for business." He noted that the transport infrastructure in the region, freight transportation tariffs of Belarusian Railways and Russian Railways and a number of other factors are important for the construction and successful operation of the port.

In September, Belarus and Russia signed an intergovernmental agreement on the transit of Belarusian goods via the Russian Federation. "With regard to Belarusian cargoes, the conditions will be stable and more profitable. This agreement creates conditions for business to invest more actively in the construction of the port," the deputy prime minister said.
