MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) will deliver no fewer than 50 units of equipment to Cuba this year, MTZ Director General Sergei Avramenko told BelTA.
A Cuban delegation led by President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez visited MTZ. The visit began with a tour of the company’s machinery exhibition.
“In recent years, the MTZ site has become a traditional venue to showcase the country’s industrial capabilities,” Sergei Avramenko said. “Today, the president of Cuba was presented with equipment by MTZ, Amkodor, Minsk Motor Plant, Atlant, Gomselmash, and essentially the full range of both agricultural and automotive machinery.”
According to the MTZ director, Cuba is interested in purchasing Belarusian machinery. “Cuba has been our traditional market since Soviet times. It is important to understand that equipment we produced 30, 40, even 50 years ago is still in operation there. That speaks to the quality and reliability of our machinery. In terms of our current relationship and deliveries, we are actively cooperating with the Cuban side. Last year, we supplied both fully assembled tractors and so-called tractor kits. The equipment ranged from 30 to 80 horsepower. This year, we plan to deliver no fewer than 50 fully assembled units,” he added.
The Cuban delegation was particularly interested in the equipment’s modular capabilities. “From the outset, we have positioned MTZ machinery not as narrowly specialized for agriculture, but as a base chassis that can be combined with various attachments for use in different sectors, such as construction, forestry, and others,” Sergei Avramenko remarked.
