MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian tractor manufacturer MTZ has opened a proprietary sale and aftersales service center in Siberia and has signed an agreement on cooperation with Russia's Novosibirsk Oblast. The ceremonies took place during the international agribusiness expo Siberian Agricultural Week, BelTA learned from the MTZ website.

In addition to selling MTZ tractors the center will offer aftersales service. The center has premises to spare for a warehouse to store parts and attachments and some outdoor space to demonstrate agricultural machines. The plans will be implemented by the daughter enterprise OOO MTZ Siberia Trading House, one of the top taxpayers in Novosibirsk Oblast.

The agreement provides for cooperation in personnel training, in arranging scientific research in the area of agricultural machines, in enhancing the technical potential of agribusiness, and in expanding manufacturing cooperation ties. The document was signed by Novosibirsk Oblast Governor Andrei Travnikov and MTZ Director General Vitaly Vovk.

The governor said: “MTZ products are well-known and have earned a good reputation among farmers, construction companies, and utility companies. Two decades ago our farmers had a limit selection of products to choose from. These days they are offered a broad range of Canadian, European, Korea, and Chinese machines. Nevertheless, MTZ products have the competitive edge.”

Several programs to help Siberian farmers buy agricultural machines are available. Over the course of four years they bought about 1,800 MTZ tractors.

MTZ Director General Vitaly Vovk noted: “We intend to set up a central warehouse to store spare parts next year. It will be located in Yelabuga while its branch will be in Novosibirsk. We would like customers to get parts in any part of the region within three days. We intend to reduce the maximum possible downtime of vehicles to two days. It is the most important novelty we intend to introduce within a couple of years. I think we will reduce the downtime limit to one day within 1.5-2 years. We are going to either repair the broken tractor fast or provide a replacement. We want the farmers to understand their agricultural work will always be protected if they entrust their fate to MTZ.”

MTZ cooperates with educational institutions in the region. For instance, a modern engineering classroom has been set up in the Novosibirsk State Agrarian University. A powerful tractor MTZ 3022 has been gifted to the university so that it could be used as part of the learning process. MTZ engineers also host seminars. The university's students and professors can also go to MTZ for on-the-job training and internship.
