VITEBSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Belarusian and Russian enterprises steer towards manufacturing cooperation. Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Mikhail Myatlikov made the statement for mass media before a joint session held by the chambers of commerce and industry of Belarus and Russia on the sidelines of the 11th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Vitebsk to discuss ways to explore the potential of Belarus-Russia innovative cooperation, BelTA has learned.

He noted that the issues the Belarusian private sector has run into in the period of sanctions-fueled pressure on the part of unfriendly states are getting resolved.

“We are establishing manufacturing cooperation today. One can look at the exhibition of machines, vehicles, and equipment represented in Vitebsk. Those are not only Belarusian but Russian machines and vehicles. Results of manufacturing cooperation. We used to use some imported components in the past, today we help private businesses find each for the sake of import substitution. And we have manufacturing cooperation. We couldn’t imagine manufacturing cooperation between Rostselmash and Gomselmash in the past. Today these enterprises cooperate just like MAZ and KamAZ cooperate. This is why manufacturing cooperation is the basis of our world today,” Mikhail Myatlikov said.

The BelCCI head added that every forum of regions of Belarus and Russia presents new opportunities for expanding the geography of partners. In particular, during the current forum the Belarusian side acquired another twinned chamber in the neighboring country – the chamber of commerce and industry from the Republic of Tyva. This delegation arrived in Belarus the day before and visited Brest, Grodno, and Minsk before coming to Vitebsk.

“Five documents, including on cooperation with the Republic of Tyva, are supposed to be signed during today’s event for the chambers of commerce and industry,” the official added.

Representatives of 12 regional chambers of commerce and industry of Belarus and Russia arrived in Vitebsk. All the regions of Belarus are represented.

The joint event of the chambers of commerce and industry on the sidelines of the 11th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia is taking place in Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov. The meeting gathered leading experts and business leaders of the two countries. Bryansk Oblast, Smolensk Oblast, Kemerovo Oblast, Tyumen Oblast, Tula Oblast, Penza Oblast, the Republic of Tyva, Moscow and the oblast are represented. Participants of the discussion are looking into promising avenues of development of Belarusian-Russian trade and economic cooperation, matters of doing business, and other things.

Bilateral documents are supposed to be signed to bolster business ties of colleagues from Vitebsk Oblast, Grodno Oblast, and Gomel Oblast with partners from Kuzbass, the Republic of Tyva, Smolensk, Penza, and Volgograd.

Agreements on cooperation, commercial contracts, and other documents are supposed to be signed at all platforms of the forum.
