MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) - Belarusian Railways will hold a roundtable on the transit potential of the Republic of Belarus in ensuring Russian cargo transportation in Moscow on 27 November, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Railways press service.
The event has been organized by Belarusian Railways with the support of the Belarusian Embassy in the Russian Federation. It is aimed at attracting additional flows of cargo transported. The roundtable is also designed to update freight owners and forwarding agents on Belarusian Railways' tariff policy for the 2014 freight year.
Partaking in the roundtable will be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko, senior managers and representatives of Belarusian Railways and Belintertrans – Transport and Logistics Center with its subsidiaries, who will make reports on the strategic areas of the development of rail shipments via Belarus for 2015.
The Belarusian Railways press service said that some 44.6 million tonnes of cargo was transported between Belarus and Russia in January-September 2014, up 5.1% as against the same period of 2013. The Belarusian export to the Russian Federation increased by 34.7% as against January-September 2013.
The share of the Russian cargo in the total volume of transit shipments via the Belarusian railway amounts to some 90% and includes transportation of coal, oil and oil products, ferrous metals, fertilizers, ore, oilcakes, and grain.
