Belarusian Railways plans to buy 10 Stadler trains in 2021-2025

MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Railways plans to buy ten Stadler trains in 2021-2025, BelTA has learned from the press service of Belarusian Railways.

“Belarusian Railways plans to purchase ten five-car electric trains for the regional lines made by Stadler Minsk and 15 electric locomotives that can drive passenger trains,” the press service said.

Belarusian Railways is set to spend Br97 million to upgrade the rolling stock and modernize machines, equipment and transport vehicles in 2020. Belarusian Railways spent Br86 million on these issues and bought three new diesel trains in 2019. The delivery of three more diesel trains is expected by the end of 2020.

With a view to improving the efficiency, the company's locomotive sector is in for digital transformation as the company plans to implement the Digital Locomotive and Digital Depot concepts.

Belarusian Railways intends to equip traction and motor driving rolling stock with communication and navigation devices and shunting locomotive with satellite navigation systems in 2021-2025.
