MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko will visit Oman and Pakistan, BelTA has learned.
On 13-14 October, the Belarusian head of government will pay an official visit to Oman. He is scheduled to meet with the Crown Prince of Oman and the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al-Said, and Chairman of the State Council AbdulMalik bin Abdullah Al Khalili. A significant package of documents is expected to be signed during the visit.
On 15-16 October, Roman Golovchenko will pay a working visit to Pakistan. The Belarusian prime minister is set to meet with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref. The Belarusian head of government is expected to take part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. This is the first meeting for Belarus as a full member of the organization.
Belarus has been participating in the SCO since 2010 as a dialogue partner and since 2015 as an observer. In July 2024, Belarus became a full member of the organization.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a permanent intergovernmental international organization, established in Shanghai, China on 15 June 2001. Initially, it was the "Shanghai Five": Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. The mission of the SCO is to strengthen security, to promote trade and economic relations. Internally, the SCO adheres to the "Shanghai spirit", namely, mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for diversity of civilizations and pursuit of common development; and externally, it upholds non-alignment, non-targeting at other countries or regions and the principle of openness. The fundamental document of the organization is the SCO Charter signed in June 2002.
