YEREVAN, 1 October (BelTA) - We need specific projects and high-tech goods under the Eurasian brand in the EAEU in order to promote industrial cooperation, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Yerevan, BelTA learned.
Roman Golovchenko stressed that industrial cooperation should become a kind of ideology of the EAEU. "It is important we focus on the development of critical technologies in our countries for the autonomous development of our own manufacturing sector. We are deeply convinced that the time for discussions on this topic is over. Practical returns are needed in the form of specific projects and the production of high-tech goods under the Eurasian brand. To this end, we need to fully launch a program of subsidizing cooperation projects in priority industries from the EAEU budget in the coming year. The methodology for this has been drawn up, decisions have been made. The only question is to get it launched," the prime minister said.
According to him, so far the union has been lagging behind in technology and industrial production of electric vehicles and has to increase import of these products from third countries. "At the same time, the potential of the union in solving the problems of industrial cooperation, creating new industries and jobs can be fully unlocked through the Eurasian Electric Bus project of Belarus, Roman Golovchenko stressed. "We believe that the project will bring industrial cooperation in the EAEU to a qualitatively new level."
The 3rd Eurasian Economic Forum is running in Yerevan on 30 September – 1 October 2024. It is co-located with the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council with the participation of the heads of government of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and observer states.
