Belarusian PM hails results of visit to Latin America

MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) - The purpose of the official visit of the Belarusian delegation to Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua was to open new chapters in the history of Belarus’ cooperation with them, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told the media after the visit, BelTA has learned.

“We work thoughtfully, in a planned manner building relations primarily with the countries with which we have a history of cooperation. Somewhere it is more successful, and somewhere there are issues that need to be solved. Therefore, the purpose of our long visit to the countries of South and Central America is very simple. It was to fulfill the task set by the president, which is actually to open new chapters in the history of cooperation with these countries,” the prime minister said.

Roman Golovchenko explained that the current situation in the world is complicated and it also has an impact on Belarus' partners. “Therefore, in terms of cooperation with every country we had an appropriate plan or task to be solved. Today, summarizing the results, as head of the delegation, I can say that these tasks have been solved. We have achieved our goals,” he added.
The official visit of the Belarusian prime minister to Latin America ended on 20 July. Roman Golovchenko visited Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua and reached agreements on cooperation. For example, Belarus and Venezuela outlined steps to restart joint projects in industry and other sectors. Agreements to supply tractors, milk powder, and cooperation in pharmaceuticals were reached with Cuba. In Nicaragua, contracts were signed to deliver over 700 pieces of machinery worth a total of $85 million.
