MINSK, 30 December (BelTA) - Reaching the economic growth target of 4.1% in 2025 is challenging but we can't set other goals, because we have no other choice but to press forward, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said on the air of Belarus 1TV channel on 29 December. He also commented on the revision of a number of forecasts of the Belarusian economy, BelTA learned.
Commenting on a number of forecasts on the Belarusian economy being revised upward (for example, by the IMF and the EDB), Roman Golovchenko said: “These forecasts are a tool of certain manipulations, i.e. it is clear that he who pays the piper calls the tune. Of course, under such pressure, to which we were all subjected, what can we expect of them? Of course, they will tell us that things will be bad, that we will die, that we will face inflation, stagflation, devaluation, and so on.
“We evaluated things adequately, so we were absolutely not worried about it. We are guided by our own forecasts, which are verified. The fact that they are now revising them upwards is a forced measure. The figures are already visible. So customers will ask them how you do your job? This affects their reputation. If they cannot adequately forecast even such an indicator as the growth rate of the economy, then this begs the question how you can trust them. So there is nothing surprising here,” the head of government said.
