Belarusian Oil Company aims to export 11m tonnes of oil products in 2019

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Oil Company intends to keep the export of oil products at last year's level – 11 million tonnes – despite the polluted Russian oil situation, BelTA learned from the company's Deputy Director General Sergei Grib at an international conference in Minsk on 26 September.

“Despite the situation with polluted oil we will reach last year's volume of deliveries at the end of the year, that is 11 million tonnes,” the executive said.

Roughly 30% of the oil products is shipped to Ukraine, some is shipped in the direction of Baltic Sea ports. “As for the ports, we see that shipments in the direction of Latvia will drop a bit this year while shipments in the direction of Lithuania will stay the same. Shipments in the direction of Estonia will rise a bit. The first deliveries towards Russian ports – about 200,000 tonnes – have started,” the deputy director general noted. “As for possible distribution of our export flows next year, we intend to ship more via Lithuanian ports. Respectively shipments via Estonia and Latvia will drop a bit. First of all, due to the tariff policy of the Baltic ports.”

Asked about oil products getting shipped to Ukraine by pipeline transport, Sergei Grib said that 8,000 tonnes had already been pumped in test mode. “It is one of the possible destinations. The matter is negotiable,” he remarked.

BelTA reported earlier that on 19 April Belneftekhim registered a massive decrease in the quality of the Russian oil mixture Urals coming via the oil pipeline system Druzhba. The concentration of chlororganic compounds in oil exceeded standard thresholds dozens of times over. As a result a number of countries stopped taking and processing Russian oil. Both Belarusian oil refineries – OAO Naftan and Mozyr Oil Refinery – were forced to reduce their workload and suffered financial losses. Damage was also caused to the pipeline system.

The international conference “The oil products and gas market of the Republic of Belarus: Production, trading and retail” is the seventh conference on record. Participants of the conference are expected to analyze main trends on the markets of energy resources, prospects of the Belarusian oil and gas processing industries, discuss technical and marketing novelties in the area of refueling stations and tank farms.
