Belarusian new car market up by 21.3% in H1 2025

MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) -  The auto dealers sold 24,634 new cars in January-June 2025, which was up by 21.3% year-on-year, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA).

“The actual growth was registered in the first quarter of this year. Since April, the automotive market has been stagnating,” experts said. “Since March, the number of banks offering loans to purchase cars, both new and used, has decreased significantly. New restrictions in the leasing segment for individuals came into force in Belarus, which negatively affected the approval rate of applications from potential buyers.”

In June, the new car market showed a downturn compared to last year:  dealerships sold 3,841 cars, which was down by 13% year-on-year.

Good sales in June were posted by the auto brands that were able to offer financing options. The top five has remained unchanged since the beginning of the year, accounting for almost 90% of the market.

The electric transport market continues to gain momentum: 664 green cars were sold in June, which accounted for more than 17% of sales of all passenger cars excluding commercial vehicles. Taking into account the current support for the development of the electric vehicles sector in Belarus, it is expected to continue to grow.
