MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) intends to open a facility to assemble electric vehicles in the special economic zone in the city of Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, Russian Federation, the MAZ press service told BelTA.

Representatives of MAZ and Ufa Tram and Trolleybus Plant (UTTZ) met with representatives of the Development Corporation of the Republic of Bashkortostan (DCRB) in Ufa. The corporation is ready to join the project, which envisages opening a new facility to assemble electric ground vehicles made by MAZ (trolleybuses and electrobuses) in the special economic zone in the city of Ufa as a co-investor. It will allow increasing the output capacity to MAZ’s capacity to make vehicle assembly kits in Minsk taking into account the commissioning of a new bus plant in 2025, the source said.

The new assembly enterprise will also allow MAZ to sell these electric passenger vehicles in the Russian Federation within the framework of all the incentive programs available to Russian manufacturers.

DCRB Director General Nail Gabbas showed interest in the MAZ-UTTZ project, which is built around the production of the latest models.
