Belarusian Industry Ministry’s performance in 2023 praised

MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – The year 2023 was a productive one for the Industry Ministry. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Piotr Parkhomchik made the statement before a summarizing session of the Industry Ministry board, BelTA has learned.

Piotr Parkhomchik said: “The year2023 was a productive one for the Industry Ministry. Performance evaluation is positive: 6 out of 10 assigned targets have been hit. Besides, those are six key targets that shape the country’s economy. Positive dynamics has been observed for the last three years in this regard. The output growth rate totaled 139.8% in these three years. If we talk about export, the figures are even higher.”

In his words, the Russian market is getting kind of saturated. In 2024 it will be necessary to put serious efforts into market diversification and move operations to other markets. “Those have been identified. They are Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. Certain steps have been made. Last year saw deliveries of a range of agricultural machines, automobile industry products, which are securing their foothold on these markets,” the deputy prime minister noted.

“We were exacting about the defense of business plans of all the largest enterprises run by the Industry Ministry. We see that January results are positive. The manufacturing sector demonstrated a growth rate of 105.4% as against the last year’s level. As a result, the GDP growth rate totaled 102.8%. The key thing is to hold on to this altitude and continue increasing the output and enhancing the export potential. Targets have been set. The export growth rate is supposed to reach 107.6% while the GDP growth rate is supposed to reach 103.8%. Respectively the industrial output growth rate is supposed to be at least 105%,” Piotr Parkhomchik noted.
