Belarusian Industry Ministry implements 26 import-substituting projects in 2023

MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) - Organizations affiliated with the Belarusian Industry Ministry implemented 26 import-substituting projects in 2023, head of the Investment Department of the Industry Ministry Dmitry Rukshin said at the ministry’s collegium meeting on 1 March, BelTA has learned.

“In 2023, the organizations of the Industry Ministry implemented 26 import-substituting projects with a total amount of funding of Br2.47 billion. Last year Br194.46 million was allocated to this group of projects, with 60 new jobs created,” Dmitry Rukshin said.

He also spoke about the projects implemented on the one district-one project principle. “In total, 20 such projects were implemented in 2023 with a total funding of about Br837 million. Just over Br61 million was spent on their implementation, and 54 jobs were created. The largest of this group are the projects on the organization of ring rolling production with the reconstruction of the production workshops in Orsha and the development of a white tinplate production plant in Miory within the Vitebsk free economic zone,” the head of the Investment Department of the Industry Ministry said.

Some 22 innovative projects are under implementation as part of the state innovative development program for the current five-year period. The total funding exceeds Br613 million. “In 2023, some Br135.1 million was allocated for the implementation of these projects, with the plan standing at Br186.6 million,” he added.
