Belarusian government tasked to preserve all social standards despite sanctions

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) - The task of the government is to preserve all social standards, despite the sanctions, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said at a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on 25 May, BelTA has learned.

“According to the president's instructions, the main task of the government is to maintain and ensure all the social standards of the country's development and the social projects that determine the level of welfare and comfort of living, despite the fact that the new sanctions imposed against our country are of an unprecedented scale. The final intention of the West is to strike a blow to the standard of living of our people, to cause their discontent and social tension by weakening the potential of key industries and economic sectors,” said Nikolai Snopkov.

According to him, the aviation industry was the first to suffer last year. Then followed the bans in the potash and oil refining sectors. Restrictions were imposed on certain enterprises and individuals. “Five packages of sanctions have already been adopted, and a sixth package is on its way,” the first deputy prime minister said.
