MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) - The state will continue to support manufacturers of domestic analogues of imported products, Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar told the media before a ceremony to honor the Import Substitution Award winners, BelTA learned.
The Import Substitution competition was held among business entities in two nominations. The Customer of the Year nomination highlights the organizations that managed to significantly reduce the number of import components in their goods and to expand the range of domestically-made components. The Manufacturer of the Year nomination encourages the companies that were able to increase the output of import-substituting goods and their share in the total output.
Yuri Chebotar noted that the state will continue to support domestic manufacturers of import substituting products involved in cooperation chains of large industrial enterprises.
"The Belarusian Fund for Financial Support of Entrepreneurs will provide the winners and laureates the opportunity to borrow financial resources for three years at low rate. The most important reward for them will be national recognition of their products. This is a very effective marketing and promotion tool for businesses. We are also interested in popularizing such successful experience, goods and services. Therefore, we expect that the competition will mark a new stage for the winners and laureates in their development," the minister emphasized.

This year the competition received 76 applications. The expert committee chose five winners and seven laureates.
