Belarusian Gomeltransneft Druzhba cleanses pipelines from polluted Russian oil

MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – OAO Gomeltransneft Druzhba has cleansed its system of oil pipelines from polluted Russian oil, BelTA has learned.

All the operations to remove substandard oil from the main pipelines and tank farms in the Belarusian territory were finished on 11 July. The oil pipeline from the Belarusian border to the line operation dispatcher station Unecha in the Russian Federation had been cleansed by 13:00 on 12 July.

Thus, OAO Gomeltransneft Druzhba has completed measures stipulated by the roadmap on removing poor-quality oil to the Russian territory ahead of schedule.

BelTA reported earlier that on 19 April Belneftekhim registered a massive decrease in the quality of the Russian oil mixture Urals coming via the oil pipeline system Druzhba. The concentration of chlororganic compounds in oil exceeded standard thresholds dozens of times over. Both Belarusian oil refineries – OAO Naftan and Mozyr Oil Refinery – were forced to reduce their workload and have suffered financial losses. After the incident clean oil reached the Belarusian border via the Druzhba pipeline system on 2 May.
