MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – In 2024, Belarusian food industry enterprises continued to successfully explore the markets of the countries in the far abroad, launching supplies to such countries as Afghanistan, Jordan, Bahrain, the Philippines, Brazil, Cuba and Chile, Belgospishcheprom Deputy Chairman Aleksandr Yakovchits said during the meeting of the Board of Belgospishcheprom Concern to review the performance in 2024 and set tasks for 2025.
According to Belgospischeprom Director Oleg Zhidkov, 2024 was not an easy year for the industry. The government has also set demanding goals for the food industry enterprises for the current year. “At this very stage it is necessary to understand what figures we are reaching and what we should pay close attention to already in the first quarter. The Concern is taking all possible measures to support enterprises and create favorable conditions for their work,” the director said.
The performance of Belgospischeprom Concern in 2024 was recognized as effective. “Proceeds from marketing products rose 12% and investment increased by 33.7% in comparable prices to 2023. Nominal accrued average monthly salary in the Concern went up by 16.4%, real wages increased by 10.1%,” Belgospishchprom Deputy Chairman Aleksandr Kizhuk said.
The Belgospishcheprom enterprises met almost all the export targets set by the government last year. Moreover, Belgospishcheprom’s exports grew 11.2% in 2024, and demonstrated a 1.5-time increase over the past five years.
“We can confidently say that 2024 was a successful one for Belgospishcheprom organizations. Geographically, the export portfolio is represented by 53 countries. Our focus is on the markets in the far abroad. Since 2019, exports in this direction have soared more than five times,” Aleksandr Yakovchits said. “We are actively increasing supplies to China and the Middle East. We continue to successfully develop the African market. In 2024 we supplied our products to Morocco, South Africa, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea. New markets included Afghanistan, Jordan, Bahrain, the Philippines, Brazil, Cuba and Chile.”
The Belarusian food industry will also make its focus on the African continent this year. Experts see the potential in improving the efficiency of existing schemes of goods movement as one of the factors that will contribute to the further growth of exports. The matter concerns the use of the potential of marketplaces as well as direct deliveries to retail chains.
