MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – Belarusian farmers have gathered in 155,100 tonnes of winter barley, the Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.
As of 12 July winter barley was harvested from 30,900ha of land (52.7% of the targeted area), with 155,100 tonnes produced. Winter rapeseed was gathered in from 4,130ha of land or 33.3% of the targeted area.
As part of the second cutting farmers cut down grass on 58.7% of the targeted area in Brest Oblast, 5.48% in Vitebsk Oblast, 35.8% in Gomel Oblast, 29.6% in Grodno Oblast, 43.5% in Minsk Oblast, and 28% in Mogilev Oblast. Grass was harvested from 294,900ha of land, 83.5% of the area where grass has been cut.
Belarusian farmers made 499,100 tonnes of hay (52.3% of the target), 9.436 million tonnes of haylage (70.3%), and 258,600 tonnes of silage (1.35%).
Plans have been made to make a total of 9.6 million tonnes of feed units out of grass this year. So far 31% of the targeted amount has been made. Belarusian farmers are supposed to stock up on nearly 19.8 million tonnes of silage, 13.2 million tonnes of haylage (including 1 million tonnes in polymeric packaging), and 955,200 tonnes of hay.
