MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – Belarusian farmers have gathered in 49,000 tonnes of hay so far, the Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.
As of 13 June Belarusian farmers cut down grass on 693,500ha of land, 52.2% of the targeted number. Progress was at 82.1% in Brest Oblast, 17.7% in Vitebsk Oblast, 49.9% in Gomel Oblast, 52.7% in Grodno Oblast, 61.5% in Minsk Oblast, and 40.5% in Mogilev Oblast.
Grass was harvested from 566,700ha of land, 81.7% of the area where grass has been cut. Belarusian farmers made 49,000 tonnes of hay (5.13% of the target), 3,335,000 tonnes of haylage (24.8%), and 216,800 tonnes of silage (1.14%).
Plans have been made to make a total of 9.6 million tonnes of feed units out of grass this year. So far 10.51% of the targeted amount has been made. Belarusian farmers are supposed to stock up on nearly 19.8 million tonnes of silage, 13.2 million tonnes of haylage (including 1 million tonnes in polymeric packaging), and 955,200 tonnes of hay.
