MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) - Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) will assist furniture manufacturers from Pakistan with purchasing timber in Belarus, Aleksandr Bashliy, Head of Foreign Relations at BUCE, said during a meeting with a Pakistani business delegation at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.
"We are ready to approach every purchase application individually and ensure the presence of sawn timber with necessary characteristics: grade, diameter, humidity. Moreover, in the event of a transaction, the commodity exchange will monitor its proper execution and, if necessary, help with logistics. The Asian market is one of the priority export destinations for the Belarusian timber industry, so cooperation with Pakistan is not just an image project, but a real opportunity to increase trade between our countries," the BUCE representative said during the presentation of the exchange platform.
Certain steps have already been taken to intensify exchange trade between Belarus and Pakistan, Aleksandr Bashliy noted. For example, this year the first brokerage company from this country was accredited at BUCE, and thanks to the efforts of the Embassy of Pakistan, the BUCE central office hosted about 70 representatives of the Pakistani business community as part of the business delegation.
"In addition to timber, a fairly promising commodity is chemistry and petrochemistry. For example, Belarusian acrylic fiber is in high demand in Pakistan. It has recently been regularly supplied to this market through our trading platform. The volume of transactions is not yet very large. So expanding the circle of Pakistani buyers is a task of paramount importance," said Aleksandr Bashliy.
Within the framework of the business meeting, negotiations were also held with the leadership of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry. An agreement was reached to organize joint work to inform Pakistani small and medium-sized businesses about the possibilities of participating in tenders at BUCE.
