Belarusian commodity exchange expects high demand for goods from Russia's Chelyabinsk Oblast

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) - Import-substituting goods from Chelyabinsk Oblast of Russia are expected to enjoy high demand at Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

"Manufacturers of ventilation equipment, electrical installations, shut-off valves and polymer pipes from Chelyabinsk Oblast expressed interest in selling their products via Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange. About 70 companies from this Russian region have already been accredited with the Belarusian trading platform, and the arrival of new suppliers will provide additional opportunities for the exchange and its participants," the press service said.

This and other issues of economic cooperation were discussed during a meeting with business circles of Chelyabinsk Oblast hosted by the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in Belarus on 14 November.

According to BUCE, import-substituting products for the construction, heat and power industries account for more than 40% of transactions concluded on the BUCE trading platform. For example, plastic products, mechanical devices, technological equipment and electrical appliances are in particular demand. Therefore, it is expected that the goods from Chelyabinsk manufacturing companies will be in demand on the BUCE platform not only among Belarusian bidders but also among buyers from abroad.

Chelyabinsk Oblast is an industrial and agrarian region, where the industrial sector and agriculture are equally highly developed. “In terms of trading on the commodity exchange we will focus on unlocking the potential of these two areas. Given the significant share of the metallurgical and mining industries in the structure of industrial production in Chelyabinsk Oblast, it is mainly ferroalloys, pipe and flat products and coal from this region that are traded at BUCE. We hope that the business meeting will be another step towards establishing long-term cooperation with enterprises of this Russian region. Through the BUCE platform, they will be able to offer their products not only to thousands of potential buyers from Belarus, but also to find business partners among bidders from other countries," BUCE said.

It is assumed that BUCE will build its work with Chelyabinsk Oblast as with other regions of the Russian Federation and will be attracting small and medium-sized businesses with the assistance of the regional chamber of commerce and the export promotion center.
