Belarusian builders of Garlyk mining, processing factory to install third tunneling machine

MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – Belarusian builders of the Garlyk mining and processing factory in Turkmenistan are getting ready to lower the third tunneling machine into the shaft, the press service of the Council of the Republic of Belarus told BelTA.

Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich oversees the project's implementation. According to the source, the pace of underground tunneling operations has increased. Two tunneling machines are in use already. Another one will be lowered into the shaft soon. Ore is being extracted and the lifting machine of the cage shaft is getting expanded. Specialists of the Belarusian companies Shakhtospetsstroy, Belaruskali, and Belgorhimprom are working smoothly.

At least 16,000 tonnes of ore has to be extracted to the surface before the technological tests of the floatation enrichment plant can be launched. This amount of ore will be extracted in September. After that the first two lines of the enrichment plant will be tested under load.

Simultaneously Belarusian specialists are working on other installations of the mining and processing factory. Some of them have been submitted for acceptance to the customer — the Turkmen potash mining company Turkmenkali.

BelTA reported earlier that in January 2010 the Belarusian company OAO Belgorhimprom signed a contract with the state concern Turkmenhimiya for the turn-key construction of the Garlyk mining and processing factory by Belarusian specialists. The factory is designed to make 1.4 million tonnes of potash fertilizers using the Garlyk minefield of potash salts in Lebap Oblast, Turkmenistan. The main work began in 2012.
