MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer BelAZ constantly works on new technical solutions, BelTA learned from BelAZ First Deputy Director General for Strategic Development, Innovations, and Information Technologies Aleksandr Botvinnik.
Aleksandr Botvinnik said: “At some point in the past we were criticized for excessive manufacturing localization. However, that decision has proven its effectiveness right now, in particular, during the period of sanctions. We set out to develop our own competences, which allow us to make more haul trucks for our customers in the current situation.”
The executive continued: “We constantly work on new technical solutions, which allow reducing engine power. We presented the hybrid haul truck BelAZ 7513M at a recent forum of regions. It is a brand new vehicle that has no match in the world. These are not simple words. With this haul truck we've managed to nearly halve the engine power. The standard figure is 1,600hp while that truck has 800hp. All of it is compensated by an alternative source of energy in the form of batteries.”
As for new products, BelAZ focuses on using alternative sources of energy – natural gas, accumulators, and hybrid systems.
The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's largest manufacturer of haul trucks and transport equipment for the mining industry and the civil engineering industry. BelAZ occupies about 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world's largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
