MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – Contracts on exporting Belarusian machines and vehicles to Egypt were signed during a recent visit of the Belarusian delegation to Cairo, the press service of the Belarusian Industry Ministry told BelTA.
The tractor engineering company MTZ contracted to deliver 659 tractors and tractor assembly kits to Egypt in 2020. Amkodor signed a memorandum on setting up a joint venture in Egypt to make machines for agriculture, civil engineering, road construction, housing and utilities industry in addition to a contract on supplying 50 vehicle assembly kits. The automobile engineering company MAZ contracted to deliver 15 vehicle assembly kits and signed a memorandum of cooperation in promoting joint products onto African markets. Bobruiskagromash signed a framework contract on supplying agricultural machines and kits to assemble agricultural machines.
The heavy truck manufacturer BelAZ and the engine manufacturer MMZ signed protocols of intent and dealership agreements.
The Industry Ministry press service said: “Belarus and Egypt intend to not only step up vehicle production and increase mutual trade, but pool efforts to secure steady sales and aftersales service while promoting their products to markets of neighboring African countries.”
While in Egypt Belarusian Industry Minister Pavel Utyupin met with Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Neveen Gameea and Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed El Asar. Joint mechanical engineering projects were discussed as well as ways to advance manufacturing cooperation and expand trade and economic cooperation.
In 2019 companies run by the Industry Ministry exported $102.7 million worth of merchandise and services to Egypt, 140% as against 2018. The main exports were BMZ metal products, MTZ tractors and tractor assembly kits, agricultural machines made by Bobruisk Plant of Tractor Parts and Units, MMZ engines, Amkodor loaders, and MAZ automobiles.
