Belarusian Ambassador meets with head of Kursk Oblast to discuss assistance

MOSCOW, 23 January (BelTA) - Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik held talks with Acting Governor of Russia’s Kursk Oblast Alexander Khinshtein in Moscow on 23 January, BelTA learned.

“Cooperation with Kursk Oblast has become strategic. This is a region that is geographically close to us, and given the events taking place there, we cannot stay aside. We discussed in detail the full range of the bilateral agenda: the supply of firefighting equipment, the modernization of the tram fleet, and the supply of other passenger vehicles as part of the national project being implemented in Russia,” Ambassador Aleksandr Rogozhnik told journalists after the meeting.

“We touched on the issue of housing reconstruction, from apartment buildings to social facilities under the projects we have already implemented in Voronezh Oblast, Kaluga Oblast and a number of other regions of Russia,” he continued.

“We discussed the supply of pork and beef meat for processing in Belarus. We have made great progress in increasing dairy supplies to Kursk Oblast. In general, the trade reached $370 million in January-November of last year,” Ambassador Aleksandr Rogozhnik said.

“I believe that we should really lend a helping hand. We discussed recuperation of residents from the affected districts of Kursk Oblast in Belarusian health resorts. This is essentially the whole spectrum of bilateral relations,” the ambassador added.
