Belarusian airline industry set to report strong 2024 results

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – So far this year the Belarusian civil aviation has seen a 7% increase in passenger turnover and 20% in the number of passengers boarded, the Department of Aviation at the Transport and Communications Ministry told BelTA as it commented on the economic performance of the country's aviation industry.

“There are two economic concepts in civil aviation: passenger turnover and number of commercial passengers boarded”. So far the passenger turnover has gone up by 7% year-on-year, and the number of passengers boarded - by 20%”, the department infromed. 

It was noted that the cargo turnover has edged up by 2% year-on-year. Export of transportation services increased by 7% year-on-year. In January-October 2024, the aviation industry reported a 90% increase in profit year-on-year.
“One can ask what the impact of sanctions on us is? It is a positive one. We are moving forward,” said Igor Golub, Director of the Aviation Department at the Transport and Communications Ministry.
