Belarus, Zimbabwe keen to develop industrial cooperation

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) - Belarus and Zimbabwe are planning to develop industrial cooperation, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich told the media summarizing the visit of the Belarusian government delegation to the African country, BelTA informs.

“We discussed the planned visit of the president of Zimbabwe to Belarus and conveyed an invitation from the Belarusian president to visit our country. We also discussed new projects on the possible use of Belarus’ technologies and competencies to process solid municipal waste. We considered the possibility of expanding the bus assembly production and supply of MAZ machine kits. This is industrial cooperation that is mutually beneficial,” Viktor Karankevich said.

Special attention was also paid to further development of cooperation in education, science, healthcare and culture.

“The list of areas where we can unlock the potential of cooperation with Zimbabwe is very extensive. Belarus is set to fulfill all the tasks outlined by our heads of state promptly and efficiently,” Viktor Karankevich noted.

On 16 April Harare hosted a ceremony to hand over farm machines to the Zimbabwean side: 7 Gomselmash harvesters and 189 MTZ tractors.

“This is just the beginning. Plans are in place to deliver 80 combine harvesters, 3,491 tractors and 30 grain dump trucks with trailers as part of the third phase of Zimbabwe's agricultural mechanization program,” the government's press service said.
