Belarus’ vice premier: Western sanctions cannot break us

MOSCOW, 29 March (BelTA) - The Western sanctions cannot break us, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko said at the meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Moscow on 29 March, BelTA has learned.

“Our cooperation over the previous year have proved that difficulties made us stronger and more disciplined, that no Western sanctions could break us,” Igor Petrishenko said.

In his words, in 2023 the GDP of the CIS countries grew by 4% on average as opposed to 2022 when this indicator was minus 0.2%. “I see our real joint work in these results. It is important to maintain these positive trends in the ongoing year as well,” Igor Petrishenko emphasized.

He added that Belarus’ GDP increased by 3.6% in 2023. “The industrial output went up by 7.7%, agricultural - by 1.1%. Belarus’ trade with the CIS countries amounted to $51.4 billion, up 3.1%,” the deputy prime minister said.
