SMOLEVICHI DISTRICT, 1 June (BelTA) – New technologies are crucial for the development of agriculture, Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Subbotin said as he attended the 31st edition of the international expo Belagro 2021, BelTA has learned.
“It is symbolic that this year's edition of the expo is running in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. Agriculture, the processing industry, and all related industries are considered high-technology sectors for a good reason. We can see this at Belagro. For example, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is demonstrating here new technologies,” Aleksandr Subbotin said.
Precision farming and smart animal breeding are important today, he noted. “Advanced technologies are taking center stage today. We can increase crop yield and achieve new results only if we use them,” Aleksandr Subbotin stressed.
“Belarusian agricultural products are exported to 116 countries and are recognized all over the world. We are moving forward in this field. In 2020, Belarus' agricultural export amounted to $5.8 billion,” Aleksandr Subbotin pointed out.
According to him, Belagro 2021 features more than 400 companies from 16 countries. “They are showcasing everything from technologies to new products. The program of the expo is packed and interesting. There are great prospects for stepping up cooperation with foreign partners, including from African countries,” the deputy prime minister noted.
