Belarus, Uzbekistan to set up assembly facility for cotton tractors

TASHKENT, 7 February (BelTA) - Belarus and Uzbekistan are busy setting up a facility to assemble cotton tractors, Director General of the Belarusian tractor manufacturer MTZ Vitaly Vovk told the media on the sidelines of the 2nd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan in Tashkent, BelTA has learned.

"We keep in touch with our customers. We have a good dealer network here. Last year we delivered more than 4,000 tractors to the country. This is our record high in recent years," Vitaly Vovk said.

According to him, the parties now intend to develop joint production of tractors. A pilot project will be launched this year as Belarus and Uzbekistan are setting up a facility to assemble cotton tractors. At the first stage, MTZ will deliver 500 tractor sets.

"Uzbekistan is investing in the development of its manufacturing capacities. It is very important for us to make a joint product that will be in demand in Uzbekistan and perhaps in neighboring countries," Vitaly Vovk added.
