MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) - Representatives of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry led by Deputy Minister Vadim Shagoiko held videoconference talks with representatives of the United Arab Emirates to discuss ways to expand trade and investment cooperation between the countries, BelTA learned from the ministry.
Presentations were made by Rogachev Milk Canning Factory, Kalinkovichi Dairy Factory and Mozyr Dairy Products. The Arab side praised the high quality of the Belarusian products and expressed its interest in buying them. The parties agreed to continue negotiations in the near future.
In January-August 2022 trade growth between Belarus and the UAE made up 181.1% compared to the same period of 2021. The growth of food exports amounted to 186.9%.
Belarus' main exports to the UAE included milk and dairy products (up 3.3 times), including skimmed milk powder (up 4.2 times), fish and fish products (up 146.4%), including finished or canned fish, sturgeon caviar and its substitutes (up 154%) as well as eggs and egg products (up 98.1%).
Currently, 21 companies have received Halal certificates, including 14 dairy companies and seven producers of poultry meat and poultry by-products.
