Belarus, UAE intend to develop cooperation

MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) - The Belarusian National Agency for Investment and Privatization hosted Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Belarus Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Almusharrekh, BelTA learned from the National Agency for Investment and Privatization (NAIP).

NAIP Director Dmitry Krasovsky briefed the ambassador on the main activities of the agency and the business potential of various sectors of the Belarusian economy. He also spoke about the methods of assisting foreign business with investment projects in Belarus.

The National Agency for Investment and Privatization already has experience of successful interaction with partners from the UAE. In November 2021, as part of EXPO 2020 in Dubai, the NAIP team held the Belarusian Investment Forum, which brought together more than 100 representatives of medium and large businesses from the Persian Gulf region. "We hope that today's meeting is a good opportunity not only to continue our interaction with the UAE business but to take it to a new level," Dmitry Krasovsky emphasized.

During the conversation, the parties identified a number of priority areas for possible cooperation: food and IT industries, with focus on green technologies and food security. "In the UAE, food supply is no longer a business, but a national strategy," said the head of the UAE diplomatic mission.

The participants of the meeting touched upon the strategy of promoting Belarus as a country with a favorable investment climate for foreign business. Ambassador Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Almusharrekh noted that the agency plays a key role in this matter, so it is extremely important to choose the right strategy of work. The idea to promote the investment opportunities of Belarus as a "hidden gem", according to the ambassador, fully coincided with his personal feelings.
