Belarus, Turkmenistan to discuss ways to address trade barriers

MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – The online meeting “Turkmenistan-Belarus: Prospects of Bilateral Cooperation” is scheduled for 30 September. Participants are expected to discuss the ways to address trade barriers emerging due to new economic realities, Media-Turkmen New Agency informs.

In January-June 2020, Turkmenistan's export to Belarus dropped by 10.8% year-on-year. The import of Belarusian goods to Turkmenistan contracted by 15.3%. The coronavirus pandemic is the key factor behind trade decline. Discussion and search for ways to overcome trade barriers will help the countries restore the trade and economic growth.

The negotiations will be organized by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and Belarus. The meeting will be attended by the heads of diplomatic missions of both countries, representatives of various ministries and departments, expert economists and entrepreneurs.

Representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Ministry of Industry and Construction Production, and the Ministry of Textile Industry will make presentations of their economic potential.
