MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) - Turkish companies actively utilize the digital infrastructure and tools of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) to trade with Belarusian enterprises as importers and exporters of various raw and non-raw materials, Deputy Head of Foreign Economic Relations at BUCE German Puzyrny said following a consultation meeting to discuss cooperation with Türkiye, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.
The event was organized by the Mogilev Free Economic Zone in preparation for the next session of the Belarusian-Turkish Business Cooperation Council. It was held via videoconference. The meeting noted that in 2024 exchange trade between Belarus and Türkiye more than doubled, reaching $20.8 million.
"Türkiye is among the top 10 countries in terms of the amount of exchange transactions with Belarusian enterprises. It is also important that trade between our countries is consistently gaining momentum. In January-April 2025, it grew by 9% year on year," German Puzyrny emphasized. "This year, Belarusian lumber purchases dominate exchange transactions, accounting for 89%. However, new product categories with high potential for scaling up supplies are being gradually added."
In 2024, Belarus began exporting flax fiber, sugar, wheat gluten, and dry skimmed milk to Türkiye. In 2025, the first exchange contracts were signed for the supply of semi-finished wet blue leather products. Turkish participants regularly purchase scrap metal metals (both ferrous and non-ferrous) from Belarus, supply raw materials for Belarusian textile manufacturers, and sell equipment for the country's food industry. "As a result, Belarus-Türkiye cooperation in the exchange sector is characterized by complexity and sustainable development," German Puzyrny concluded.
Currently, BUCE accredited 112 Turkish resident companies, with more than half joining the Belarusian exchange platform in 2023-2025.
