Belarus tractor production in Kazakhstan shows impressive growth

MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – Further plans for joint production of Belarusian machinery, in particular Belarus tractors, in Kazakhstan were discussed during the working trip of Belarus Ambassador Pavel Utyupin to East Kazakhstan Region, BelTA informs citing the website of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

Belarus seeks to launch new joint projects and scale up existing joint projects in this region, to build cooperation with mechanical engineering and agricultural companies, to expand contacts with the local power vertical and to support the Belarusian diaspora.

On the first day of his working trip, the Belarusian diplomat visited SemAZ, a manufacturer of agricultural machinery and trucks. The company cooperates with the world's leading manufacturers: Minsk Tractor Works, UralAZ, GAZ, Shaanxi and FOTON.

The SemAZ facility in the city of Semey produces Belarus tractors of nine modifications. "The enterprise is of interest for the Belarusian mechanical engineering industry as it can ramp up the output of Belarus tractors and also start manufacturing farm machines from Belarusian kits. SemAZ Director General Asemkan Duskuzhanov noted that in the first half of this year the plant produced as many tractors as last year. This is a good dynamics, since co-production creates jobs and generates taxes," the embassy said.

According to Ambassador Pavel Utyupin, a decision was taken to set up a full-cycle production of cabins in Kazakhstan, which will be located at another site. The new facility will supply cabins to the plant in Semey. Thus, the localization of the tractor production will be deepened. The same approach will be applied to combine harvesters and other farm machines.

There are also a number of new ideas how to reduce the cost of equipment for Kazakhstan consumers. This is facilitated by the policy to support local producers, to provide agricultural consumers with new modern equipment.

The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission emphasized a huge potential for cooperation. Not long ago Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko paid a visit to Kazakhstan to discuss different areas for cooperation, including dairy farms which successfully operate in Belarus. “The availability of flights, the conditions that have been created in Belarus, the financial support schemes in our countries are fertile ground for increasing the number of such projects,” the embassy said.

Pavel Utyupin stressed that there is potential for the development of cooperation and conditions for partnership, with the rest depending on the desire, commitment and coordinated work.

The program of the second day of the visit included a tour to Vostok-Moloko Corporation in Ust-Kamenogorsk, a meeting with representatives of the Belarusian diaspora, and a meeting with the senior management of the Belarusian Tire company.

Pavel Utyupin was shown the production process during his visit to Vostok-Moloko Corporation. At a meeting with the management the parties discussed ways to expand cooperation and emphasized an interest in the construction of dairy farms. The corporation is among the largest milk producers in Kazakhstan.

According to the embassy, a meeting between Pavel Utyupin and the Belarusian diaspora was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Support for Belarusians living abroad is one of the main tasks of Belarusian diplomatic missions.

Pavel Utyupin also met with Deputy Akim of East Kazakhstan Region Yerzhan Nurbaev. The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to cooperation in agriculture and construction, organization of production of in-demand machine-building equipment, interregional cooperation, and tourism.
