Belarus to start direct beet pulp supplies to China by year-end

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – Belarus intends to launch beet pulp supplies to China under direct contracts by the end of 2019, Igor Shustov, First Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian state food industry concern Belgospishcheprom, told journalists as he took part in the 25th international wholesale exhibition Prodexpo 2019 on 12 November, BelTA has learned.

“Four Belarusian sugar refineries have been accredited for export of beet pulp to China. Earlier we sold beet pulp through intermediaries, but from now on we will supply beet pulp to China directly. The Chinese market is huge and the demand is strong. I think that we will ship the first batches of beet pulp to China under direct contracts by the end of the year,” Igor Shustov said.

Belarus also exports beet pulp to the European Union, Igor Shustov added. All in all, 50,000 tonnes of Belarusian beet pulp are slated for export annually.

BelTA reported earlier that four Belarusian beet pulp makers got green light to export to China: Zhabinka Sugar Refinery, Skidel Sugar Refinery, Gorodeya Sugar Refinery, and Slutsk Sugar Refinery.
