MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) - Belarus will supply Nicaragua with more than 280 units of machinery. This is stipulated by the new agreements between the two countries, BelTA learned from the press service of the Development Bank of Belarus.
"Recently in Havana, Chairman of the Board of the Development Bank Sergei Stolyarchuk signed a loan agreement to finance the supply of 48 Belarusian-made tractor sets for the needs of Cuba. After Havana he headed to the capital of Nicaragua to expand the range of cooperation and implement promising projects. In fact, the productive interaction between the countries started a year and a half ago. Last summer the Development Bank and its Nicaraguan partners signed loan agreements, which was a landmark event in the bilateral relations. The documents worth over $79 million envisaged the delivery of over 700 units of Belarusian machinery for various sectors of Nicaragua's economy," the Development Bank said.
Today the countries keep the momentum going. During the meeting of the Belarusian-Nicaraguan joint commission on trade and economic cooperation, the Development Bank signed four more loan agreements worth more than $30 million to finance the delivery of more than 280 trucks of various models and road-building equipment.
Nicaragua needs Belarusian machinery to ensure the sustainable operation of public utilities and organizations involved in large-scale Chinese-Nicaraguan infrastructure investment projects.

“Due to the projects implemented earlier, Nicaragua had the opportunity to see all the advantages of cooperating with our country and to assess the quality of Belarusian mechanical engineering products. Belarus offers its foreign partners an effective export ecosystem: from the production of goods they need to the financing of product supplies by the Development Bank. Using the example of Cuba and Nicaragua, we see that such approaches to international cooperation are effective,” Sergei Stolyarchuk said after the meeting of the joint commission.
The chairman of the Board of the Development Bank noted that Nicaragua is one of Belarus' promising partners in Central America. Joint efforts to expand relations are bearing fruit. The priority is given to trade. To this end, the Development Bank is ready to continue to finance large export projects that can help boost trade with this Latin American country.
“We keep working to make the most of cooperation potential: while in Havana and Managua, we held a number of substantive negotiations on how to expand the range of equipment supplies and create joint ventures that will sell their products to third countries. New areas are also in the focus: for example, today in Managua we have discussed cooperation in information technology, banking and financial sector and other industries,” said the head of the Development Bank.
The countries cooperate not only in the economy, but also in culture. For the second time, the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus went on a tour to Managua with the support of the Development Bank. A gala concert for Mother's Day featuring Belarusian and Nicaraguan artists was held on the stage of the Ruben Dario National Theater.
