Belarus to join International Organization of Securities Commissions in early 2020

MINSK DISTRICT, 4 November (BelTA) - Belarus will join the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in early 2020, Director of the Securities Department at the Finance Ministry Aleksei Krasinsky said as he spoke at a seminar to discuss the status and prospects of the securities market of Belarus hosted by the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange, BelTA has learned.

“All organizational activities have been completed. There are no obstacles to joining the IOSCO. In early 2020, the Finance Ministry will be a member of this international organization,” Aleksei Krasinsky said.

He said that taking into account the accession of Belarus to the International Organization of Securities Commissions, brokers from the IOSCO member states will get access to trades at the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange.

In July 2019, the government gave its approval for the Finance Ministry to join the International Organization of Securities Commissions as an associate member.

The International Organization of Securities Commissions is an international financial organization that brings together national securities market regulators. The organization is headquartered in Madrid, Spain. The organization facilitates the interaction between securities commissions of different countries, promotes the exchange of experience in state-legal regulation of the securities market and new methods of regulation of the securities market.
