Belarus to increase supplies of heavy machinery, food to Russia’s Magadan Oblast

MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) - Belarus is set to increase supplies of heavy machinery and food products to Russia’s Magadan Oblast, Belarusian Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Aleksei Bogdanov told the media on 20 May, BelTA has learned.

“Heavy machinery is one of the main areas of cooperation with Magadan Oblast. We supplied 43 vehicles there in 2023. Those included 20 haul trucks (and they successfully replace Japanese and American analogues), 20 tractors and three MAZ trucks. Planned deliveries for 2024 mainly envisage MAZ, tractors and BelAZ vehicles. Today we discussed the development of a multi-brand service center, which will help us comprehensively address all the issues regarding maintenance services for our BelAZ, MAZ, and MTZ machinery supplied to Magadan Oblast. There is a service center, we will conduct negotiations to increase volumes and set up a warehouse of spare parts. This is the area where we will be able to create a serious competition to Chinese partners, who are also present in this market,” Aleksei Bogdanov said.

Another important area is food products. “We have agreed with one of the largest dealers of our goods in the Far East that it will also take on Magadan Oblast and considerably expand food supplies. Since there is no direct communication, we have to take all the products to Vladivostok and from there by sea to Magadan Oblast,” the minister said.

As for cooperation in agriculture, Belarus handed over standard construction projects for dairy farms. “There are problems with the fodder base in Magadan Oblast, but in general the region produces milk, and there is an opportunity to increase the production volume from the farm level to the dairy complexes of medium capacity,” Aleksei Bogdanov added.

Joint mining and processing of precious metals is also considered a promising area. In addition, plans are in place to intensify cooperation in health resort treatment.
