Belarus to get first batch of Russian oil without premium

MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim is drawing up papers to get the first batch of oil from a Russian company without paying a premium, Belneftekhim representatives told BelTA.

The source said: “Work continues on signing contracts on delivering hydrocarbon resources from the Russian Federation to Belarus at a price without a premium for suppliers. Papers are being drawn up with a Russian company to pump the first batch of oil that will be acquired without paying a premium.”

The source also said that the amount of raw materials Belneftekhim is expected to get soon and the stockpiled resources will keep Belarusian oil refineries working without interruptions through January 2020.

The official said: “The available reserves of fuel and the operating mode of our oil refineries allow fully satisfying the domestic demand for all kinds of motor fuel and other oil products. This is why we don't see reasons to worry about possible shortages on the home market.”

BelTA reported earlier that on 1 January Russia stopped delivering oil to Belarus. Belarusian oil refineries – Mozyr Oil Refinery and OAO Naftan – reduced their workload to the minimum the technology allows. Belneftekhim is ready to satisfy the domestic demand for automobile fuel in full. The export of oil products was temporarily suspended.
