Belarus taps into markets of Africa, Asia, Latin America

MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik talked about the country’s efforts to gain a foothold in new markets as he gave an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel on 28 January, BelTA has learned.

"We are well aware that the Russian market is not limitless. It is gradually being saturated with Belarusian products. Today, all efforts are aimed at large and complex markets of Africa and Asia. Zimbabwe is one of the examples of this work. We have been persistently knocking on their door for five to six years. Now we are reaping the results of our previous work. More than 3,000 MTZ tractors, more than a hundred Gomselmash harvesters, a large number of fire trucks and MAZ vehicles have been delivered there. A very important roadmap was signed following the visit of the Belarusian president to Equatorial Guinea. We supplied tractors and buses to Togo, made first shipments of tractors to Kenya and Nigeria. We are also interested in Latin America. We sent first shipments of MAZ vehicles to Nicaragua and MTZ tractors to Brazil. Today we are working to set up an assembly plant for our tractors in Brazil,” Piotr Parkhomchik said.

The deputy prime minister noted that while tapping into new markets, it is important to be more persistent and to believe in success.
