MINSK, 8 December (BelTA) – The implementation of the Belarusian-Swedish project designed to improve the management of land resources and urban development in Belarus using modern methods and technologies began on 8 December. The beginning of the project was announced during the international conference, which is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 8-9 December, to discuss the mass formation and mass appraisal of real estate, BelTA has learned.
The project's supervisor Miroslav Kobasa noted: “We are talking about mass appraisal and mass registration of real estate. Territorial planning is the second component. Improving the qualification of specialists of the government agencies involved in the project is another important aspect.”
The project's supervisor reminded that a pilot project had been implemented in Belarus earlier this year to test the mass formation and cadastral evaluation of real estate in Kobrin District, Brest Oblast and Sovetsky District, Minsk. Results of the pilot project will be presented during the conference.
In turn, Ambassador of Sweden to Belarus Martin Aberg stated that Belarus and Sweden have been cooperating in the area of land management for 18 years. “Cooperation began when Belarus needed qualified assistance with the land registry. The Swedish National Administration for Cartography, Cadaster, and Land Registration together with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency lent a hand to Belarus,” he said. A lot of work was done in Belarus to set up land registry agencies, improve qualifications of Belarusian specialists, and perfect the laws. “It is an example of how efforts of Swedish specialists can be successfully combined with efforts of the Belarusian public organization Land Reform and efforts of Belarusian government agencies,” said Martin Aberg.
The Ambassador said that in the World Bank's Doing Business 2017 report Belarus' property registration indicator was ranked fifth, which is ahead of many European countries, including Sweden. Martin Aberg said he hopes that future cooperation between Belarus and Sweden will be even more productive.
