Belarus suggests setting up aviation administration in Belarus-Russia union, EAEU

MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – The Aviation Department suggests considering the establishment of a united aviation administration within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia or the Eurasian Economic Union. Director of the Aviation Department of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry Artyom Sikorsky mentioned it during a press conference on 3 November, BelTA has learned.

The official said: “Sanctions force us to think about faster establishment of a united aviation administration. The regulatory body can be established within the framework of either the Union State of Belarus and Russia or the Eurasian Economic Union,” Artyom Sikorsky said.

In his words, the realization of Union State programs will bump against the establishment of such an aviation administration. “There is no doubt we need a collective response to the aviation extremism originating from our Western partners,” Artyom Sikorsky pointed out.

The official said that the united aviation administration will have to regulate flight safety and access to the market in addition to enabling equal conditions for all the air carriers. “We are going to make such proposals to our colleagues from the Russian Federation and colleagues in the Eurasian Economic Union,” Artyom Sikorsky said. “It is a matter of current interest for us. I think other countries may join such an association. It is a possibility that will be considered.”
