Belarus sets quotas for building installations that use renewable energy sources in 2025-2029

MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – Quotas have been introduced for setting up installations that use renewable energy sources in 2025-2029 with the total electric capacity of 43.186MW, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

The decision was made by the republican interagency commission on setting, distributing, releasing, and withdrawing quotas for setting up installations that use renewable energy sources.

The total electric capacity has been capped at 43.186MW. The figure includes 10MW from biogas energy, 3MW from wind energy, 1MW from the sun, 1MW from the movement of water streams, 11.28MW from biomass (firewood, wood chips), and 13.186MW from warmth of the earth and other renewable energy sources.

The oblast administrations and the Minsk City Executive Committee have been notified of the quotas. They will use the quotas to organize work with those willing to set up installations that use renewable energy sources.

The introduction of quotas for setting up installations that use renewable energy sources is regulated by the Council of Ministers’ resolution No.662 of 6 August 2015.
