MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) - Belarus plans to ramp up milk production by almost 15% in the next five years, Belarus' Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel on 10 February, BelTA has learned.
"Our goals for the next five years are quite ambitious. We have set out to ramp up the production of milk to 9.2 million tonnes (up by almost 15%), that of meat of all kinds - up to 2 million tonnes. We aim for $7 billion in export. Of course, Russia will not be bale to consume such volumes. We need to access other markets, and the competition is quite tough," Igor Brylo said.
He also touched on the issue of retaining young people in the countryside. "For graduates, we need to offer a social package. We have adopted a number of regulations that will contribute to this. We are devising incentives for young specialists. We are working on issues of loans, concessional loans for young specialists," the deputy minister said.
