MINSK, 10 January (BelTA) - Belarus and Serbia have expanded the product range of the exchange trade, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE).
According to the BUCE trading results, two new positions - herbicides and seeds – joined the Belarusian-Serbian exchange list. The first deals on the purchase of these goods by the enterprises of Belarus were concluded in early January 2025. Until then, Serbian companies acted exclusively as importers on the BUCE platform, buying Belarusian timber, milk powder, butter, and cheese.
“In the context of the exchange trade development, the expansion of the product range is always a positive phenomenon, as this creates prerequisites for increasing mutual trade and the entry of new participants to the exchange platform. Speaking about Serbia, cooperation with this country significantly intensified in 2024. Thus, compared to 2023, the number of transactions increased more than 37 times, mainly thanks to the supply of Belarusian dairy products to the Serbian market. Skimmed milk powder and whole milk powder were in the highest demand. These positions accounted for 64% of Belarus’ sales to Serbia,” the BUCE press service said.
Exchange trading in plant protection products, fertilizers and seeds for the domestic market is held on BUCE twice a week. In 2024, the total number of transactions in these commodity areas amounted to Br537.2 million, which is 13% more than in 2023. In addition to residents of Belarus, companies from Germany, Denmark, and France participated in the trading sessions.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
